KITEBOARDING | how everything started

Kiting in Cumbuco started with Bernie Hiss, a well known german Windsurfer. He was competing 1997 in the windsurf-worldcup here, in Fortaleza. From this time on, he wasn't able to forget Brazil.

So he visited me with his friends Pierre Ehler, Axel Reese, Jost Backhaus, Stefan Keim, und Kristin Boese. Everybody so was hooked on the paradisiac kite-conditions, that Bernie, Axel and Kristin published an article of 8 pages about Cumbuco and Ceara-coast in the german Kitemagazine April-Mai 2003.

Bernie, Axel and Kristin considerably contributed a lot making Cumbuco famous as kiters' paradise. I thank you an the name of all people making their living with tourism here in Brazil. Lots of these people are poor fischermen, that really benefit by your article as do their children.

Bernie and Basti Langer (german's no1 kiter in 2003) came in november 2003 to watch the kitesurf-worldcup and, of course, to go kiting.
Basti Langers only comment was: 'I was never before able to use the same kite-size for three weeks, fantastic!'
