fortaleza
Fortaleza, the 'fortress', is the capital of the state Ceara with 2.140.000 inhabitants and the international airport, half an hour driving from Cumbuco. A good point to start your sightseeing-tour is the old jail, the 'Centro do Turismo' with regional shops and restaurants in the Rua Senador Pompeu. Not far away there is a small park, the 'Passeio Público', with a Pau-brasil-tree, the species, that Brazil has its name from.In the afternoon, musicians, street vendors and story-teller transform the city-centre to a madhouse. Here you can see the most beautiful building of Fortaleza, teh theatre José de Alencar.

More sights: the cathedral, the church of the virgin of Rosario, the public Museum for Art and Culture, the urban Museum and the automobile-museum.

In the southeast lies the Praia do Futuro, 'the' beach. On the Praia da Iracema the nightlife takes place. All the discotheques, bars and restaurants are opened till the break of dawn. Only on Mondays the famous 'Pirata' is opened for their openair-live-performances and concerts - a must-see.

Jericoacoara
The 'New York Times' called Jeri one of the most beautiful beaches of the world. Sanddunes, surrounded by lakes and turquoise-coloured water. Jeri has been declared a nationalpark in 2002. Along the dirtroad you can find fishermens' huts and hotels. Jeri is the windsurfers' paradise.
Parque Nacional Ubajara
The smalles national park with the biggest and most beautiful caverns of Brazil. The Gruta de Ubajara stretches out through 9 chambers and reaches down to 1120 meters into the mountain. In the forrest area you can find rare birds, different types of monkeys, opossums, foxes and constrictor snakes. In the grotto many poisonous snakes, bats, scorpions and many types of crickets have been discovered. It's a good idea to follw the path.

Recife is a pulsing city with a vivid Old Town city centre, with many colonial buildings, nice churches and beachpromenade with modern skyscrapers. The beach is nice, the sharks seem to know this...
